Insurance

The necessary evil... Insurance is a bitch.

I have been VERY fortunate with the type of coverage Blue Cross Blue Shield has given me through work. No deductible, $20 copays for meds (which I have gotten a lot of with GD), $100 for my hospital stay- REALLY REALLY good coverage.

I may have mentioned it before, but situation is necessitating a change in the insurance this office carries as of May 1st. Hopefully, the baby and I should be on Damon's insurance by that point.

My original hope has been dashed, I was desperately hoping that the two pregnancies in the office would sway the boss not to change insurance- but $1500 more a month for insurance is an awfully high price to pay to appease 25% of your workforce.

Now I am hoping that at my dr's appointment next Tuesday I can make the suggestion that I be induced before the end of April, and that I go under Dr. Schwartz completely. This is such a horrible, selfish decision to make, but I am downright terrified that something will go wrong and Damon's insurance will not pick up either myself or the baby in time- and I will be stuck in the hospital without any insurance... The midwives will not be covered under Damon's insurance or my new work insurance (if Craig chooses to carry me over to it).

OR- we WILL be covered, but it will cost us a bunch more money than we had planned. Tonight I am going to go over our budget again to adjust for the earlier birth (and maternity leave) as well as try to make room for additional fees at the hospital, and try to wiggle in an extra $75 a month for the type of insurance we will be getting at Damon's work. I also have to find room for other small things we will need before the kid gets here. I think my plans to pay off our debts before the baby gets here are becoming less and less probable.

Lots to think about.
