Peas Pears and Potatoes

Mina has been allowed "real" food. Well, "real" baby food which is actually partially digested vegetable matter pureed into slime.

Rice cereal went over "ok," though my mother seemed to get her to eat quite a bit of it, Mina prefers to spit it all over her own body.

Her father would GAG on peas, even at a VERY early age, so it was imporant to me that Mina try them early on. Turns our she LOVES them. I can't feed them to her fast enough.

Since she took so well to peas, I assumed pears would be a real treat- sweet and subtle. However, Mina is NOT A FAN. I will put 1/16 of a teaspoon into her mouth and she will manage to push ALL of it back out and scream at me for good measure. I tried 3 times with the same result each try. I am going to put the pears away until another day.

Sweet Potatoes were introduced last night. She did not eat much but she was very fond of it. It is my rule that I taste everything before she eats it and the sweet potatoes are by far the most delicious (though the other two were not bad). I am thinking Mina has inherited her parent's love of pumpkin pie- as that is almost exactly what the sweet potato baby food tasted like.

Mmmmm- PIE.

And as side note, I mentioned that I taste everything before she get it. I think that is only fair. Baby vitamins are NASTY. FROM HELL. DISGUSTING. I feel bad forcing them down her throat, but breastfed babies "apparently" do not get enough vitamin D. What happened in the days before insipid liquid baby vitamins?

Spitting up all over her own body? Hmmm... sounds like someone needs an Elizabethan Collar! HAHA!

And maybe thoughts like these are the reason "the powers that be" have forbidden me to bear children.
