16 Months

OH BATMAN... BATMAN!!!! You have infiltrated my house. You vile, cape wearing creature. You consume my daughter's every thought. The first word out of her mouth upon waking is "Batman?" As in "can we play the batman themesong???" If she hears the clicking of computer keys, she comes running while exclaiming "batman??? BATMAN???? BATMAN!!!" If we pass anything batman related at the store you gasp sharply (inhaling most of the oxygen from the surrounding area) and point, kick your feet and giggle. Batman? Here? He is everywhere!!! I am sure your father (the instigator of this obsession) would be perfectly happy if you were BATMAN for Halloween. I think I might compromise and make you a hot pink and black batman shirt to wear. Maybe I will sew some pink tulle to the bottom of it for fun. Yes, I think this goes on my list of things to do this week.

So yes, you love to sing "batman... diggee diggee diggee diggee... batman" Remember to blame your father for this.

You have filled our lives with so many new things- You want to put on socks and are getting closer to getting them on yourself everyday. In fact, you quite enjoy wearing socks and bring them to me often. You have an opinion about your clothing and regularly want to wear something with flowers on it. In fact, earlier this month I tried to dress you in something that had flowers on it (even though you could not see them because they were tiny) and you said NO! Flowers~ When I showed you it had flowers on it, you were pleased and let me dress you. Luckily everything they make for little girls has some form of floral embellishment. So we should not come into that issue again for a while.

Your speech continues to accelerate- It is to the point where I cannot keep count, so I will simply recount my favorites: AH-CHOO, "I got you," Circe, Lily, READY, allilgador, kiddlee (kitty), lion, Lola, RAY-sin, happy, funny, doggie, sock, peach

flowers, Pan, hands, hug, high fyff (five), Pabby (along with clapping to indicate you want to do patty-cake), Peek-Boo, and my latest favorite~ Bitsy Bitsy... AKA the Itsy Bitsy spider. Which you will say over and over again until you are literally foaming at the mouth for me to sing the rhyme and do the motions with you. I love it.

You are into counting especially 5, 6! And you say it like that- fyff SIX!!! I have been working with you on the rest of the numbers and occasionally get a seveneightnineten, but rarely get the first 4 numbers. No idea why. You also know the alphabet song, but prefer to have daddy or me sing it. If we stop in the song, you will tell us what letter is next.

The most shocking discovery for me this month is that you have memorized your favorite book. Hop on Pop by Dr. Suess. About a week ago, while Daddy was reading to you, as he turned the page you would quote the words from the page that was yet to be revealed. You did this for every page turn. All I can say is WOW.

I used to be terrified of having a girly-girl. I grew up with 3 boys, I was not sure if I could handle it... But now I revel in the idea. I look forward to making you dresses, playing in the garden, doing your hair, painting our toenails. I hope you will not be angry if the dresses are a little bit punk, the garden is full of dying herbs, your hair is in a fauxhawk, and our toenails are black or cherry red.

I love you very much~
