Appointment-a-palooza 2

Afternoon appointment went well enough- heard great heart tones, blood pressure was perfect. Got some prescription creme for the bumps (called Zonalon) and my blood sugars are going to be monitored for the next week and I will be adding a 30 minute walk every night (instead of the sporadic 2 night thing I have going right now).

To be honest, I am not exactly satisfied with this answer. I am all for the extra exercise and the weather is gorgeous, so that makes me happy too- But I am having a hard time understanding the logistics...

Go on a walk at 7pm and at 7am blood sugars will be fine? I know that exercise works in our bodies over the long term, but if I am not eating for 9 hours- that (one would think) would cause my blood sugars to be lower naturally. So now I am not eating for 9 hours, and exercising within 12 hours... Both should lower my sugars, but this morning- they were still out of range.

My scientific self is considering testing my blood sugars throughout the night to see WHEN things go awry. It might be a waste of my test strips, but what the hell? I think I will feel better when I can understand just what is happening in my body. If I am having some type of "rebound" hypoglycemia, I imagine my sugars will get really low and then pop back up- which may be easily fixed by a mid-night snack... Or I will be able to see the "dawn phenomenon" in full motion and there are probably some special ways to tackle that as well.

So- we are crabby this morning. Tired from being pregnant, tired from the time change, and possibly tired from the Zonalon... Hopefully my cheerful mood will return tomorrow. Otherwise, I may dive head-first into a large slice of chocolate cake.
