A Poem for Mina

For Mina, How Wonderful is Life

Room- dark, Hour- Early
Covers rustle nearby

You call me in sleep-hooded desperation
Once in my arms, you calm and breathe deeply

I pad silently across the room, you warm in my embrace
We commune in the stillness as you finish your midnight snack

Upon rising, I am struck with the weight of this moment…

By day, time is fleeting, by night, life slows
and the joy inherited by new mothers overflows my human heart

For in my arms you rest now, small and perfect
Yet in mid-nights and mornings to come, my arms will cease to be adequate

Fear not Dear One, for I shall always carry you in my heart and mind
Thankful for the weight of your sacred spirit.
