22 Months

22 months ago(ish) you were born. You are getting to be such a big girl.

From 22 Months

I think this month I will start off with my very favorite things that you have started to do (in no particular order)

* Give me a big hug and call me your "best friend." I realize this is imitation of what you see on Barney, but I don't care. I love it when you throw your arms around my neck, press your cheek to mine and say "I lub you, we're bess frenns"

* You hold my hand when we are watching something together.

* You love anything strawberry. Strawberry milk, Strawberry cereal, Strawberries (of course), and any and all that has a PICTURE of a strawberry on it. Our house is filled with such things- hence the strawberry scented detangler I just bought- You cried when I had to hand it to the woman at the checkout counter. I have started to call you my little Strawberry- and I think it works with that curly strawberry blond head of hair you sport so effortlessly.

* "MY BOOTS!!!" This month we found some cotton candy pink rubber rain boots with white polka dots. I made the mistake of trying them on, and making sure you could walk in them IN THE STORE- When I took them off, it took a tube of strawberry lipbalm to get you distracted enough to let me buy them. The wonderful thing is that you can get them on yourself- AND they were on clearance, so everybody wins.

* You talk in your sleep. You got this from me, and for that I apologize, but it is awfully funny to hear you count from 1 to 5 at the very top of your lungs whilst completely asleep. You also like to ask what mommy and daddy are doing or where we are going (hint: we're sleeping). If, however, you begin singing Old MacDonald, that is a sign you have pooped. This has happened on more than one occasion.

* You love baths, in fact, this month you decided you could not wait and you got in FULLY CLOTHED.

Lets see- what else... You can reach the counter tops all by yourself. And you like to "cook." The salt goes missing on a regular basis. It can usually be found all over the table or in your cereal bowl. This makes Daddy nuts. I am not great at putting things back where they should go, but I can usually find them with a wee bit of backtracking... When the salt completely disappears like this? Uggg. I get in trouble :)

This month you have continued to become more independent. This is such a treat. You will go off to color or read a book. Of course if things get too quiet, I might find you elbow deep in a bowl of salt... But this is such a luxury, and I imagine that having a newborn will be even more of a shock to my system because you have become so good at entertaining yourself when I need a minute to collect my brains.

I have reached the point in my pregnancy where it is getting physically difficult to be on my feet for long periods of time, and lifting a 30 pound toddler is getting to be almost too much. I still do it, I probably should not- but sometimes a girl just needs a big hug from her Mamma, and as long as I can physically handle it, I will pick you up and set you on my hip. I imagine I am going to have to find a way to carry you and your sister at the same time. I should probably start lifting weights as soon as I get clearance from my doctor...

Your sister is only weeks away and I can't wait to see how you do. I think you are going to be a marvelous big sister. My life's joy has grown exponentially since you came into my life and I imagine that joy will only grow with the addition of your sister.

However- I have not figured out where I am going to put all of the clothes. In our little house, we have 1 functional closet... and it is full of our junk... I think I am going to be simplifying BIGTIME. Dad and I only wear about 4 outfits over and over again- I am sure if we clear out all of our other grown up clothing-

You continue to be one of the greatest delights of my entire life. I love you very much.
