My beautiful Mimi-
Things are moving so quickly around our home! You continue to grow and become more and more funny/beautiful/loud/smart.
This month you learned to give the cats a time out. In other words "Kitty MOVE!!!" "KITTY MOVE OR GIT TIME OUT!!!" "BAD KITTY" You also tend to mirror the way that Daddy talks to the cats. When they are in his chair and refuses to move, he yells "BEAT IT" and snaps his fingers in a most irritating fashion. You learn quickly. He came in the office to hear you yelling "BEAT IT!" When he asked you to be more kind you said "Please Beat It!" You were not being a smart ass, but it won't be long before comments like that are motivated completely by smart assery.
My favorite moments this month center around your great escape attempts. You are doing quite well with your big girl bed, but there are nights when you REALLY want to come play instead of sleep. We have a gate across your door to keep these nocturnal roamings from becoming dangerous. If you play, that's cool, but without it, you try to come down to see us. I tell you to put your head on the pillow, you would bring a pillow out and proceeded to try to go down the stairs whilst holding it to your head. Fast forward to now (2 months of this)and now you have started vaulting over the top of said gate. So we raised it just enough to thwart the vault. Then Daddy and I laid in bed (so you could't see us) and watched you wriggle your little tiny self UNDER the bar. Like 4 inches of height, maybe- So we split the difference and watched again. You began the vault, and we caught you halfway through and you got "stuck." And you called us to get you down...
The next night, I put you down for bed and you would rather play. I hear the noise stop and I come up to check on you... And there you are laying on your back with your bottom half of your body under the gate- like the gate was at your bellybutton, and your feet were on the "outside" and your head was in your room as if to say "What? I always sleep like this."
You are one funny girl. I hope you carry that spunk and that willingness to find creative ways around the rules. It is going to be a challenge for me, but lovely- I would have it no other way. Remind me of this when I am asking you to check me into a mental hospital during your teenage years.
Life goes on and we continue to dance to the beat of our own drum. I could write all sorts of mushy things about my love for you- but I will spare you this month. Love you, my darling, my little star sweeper.
Love,
Mamma
