Friday I got the call from my doctor's nurse... And according to her, my blood sugars are normal, and my cholesterol is normal. HUZZAH.
Of course this makes my need for insulin during pregnancy rather weird. I am sure my doc was scratching his head when he got those results. I still need to watch my diet and continue to get more exercise to keep diabetes as far away as possible, but I am quite excited that I do not currently have the label of "pre-diabetes" hanging over my head.
In other news, Damon and I "bit the bullet" and we bought a pottery wheel. I have been trying to get to the guild to throw- but with Mina, it has been exceedingly difficult. It seems every Friday and Saturday night, she becomes clingy or does not want to go to bed ontime- or sometimes she just becomes this vibrant joyful child and I don't want to leave early. So by the time we are "done" for the evening, it is very late and I am not up for the clay guild.
We bought a bare bones model, but it works well and has a warranty. I can't tell you how nice it felt to be able to throw again... Though, my most recent attempts testify to the fact that I have not really thrown in a very long time- I would say probably not since February of 2006, at least. My pieces are not all pretty, but I have the peace and quiet to retrain myself and start making more worthwhile pieces.
The Clay Guild is a wonderful place for artists to gather and learn and talk... But for me, I enjoy quiet and solitude. (though my ego likes it when Damon turns around and says "whoa" or "cool") I think the Clay Guild will still be a place I go for social things and inspiration- but it will no longer be a place I go just to create.
So- thats what is most current today. Mina is lovely, vibrant, and amazing everyday. Life is pretty good.
