14 Month Letter

Dear Mina,

Lots of talking this month. Fast, nonsensical talking... You are practicing you language skills, but most of the words that leave your mouth in those sing-songed sentences are alien to me. It is obvious that you are talking about something specific- for example, last night when Daddy came home you rushed to his side spewing chewy mouthfuls of words... All meant to describe the day we had enjoyed. That is my assumptions.

And actually yesterday was quite nice, I took you to the wild outdoors (also known as our riduclously untamed backyard) and took some pictures of you. Being the little earth-child you are, you darted for some little yellow dandelions-

Then you paraded around through the grass, all smiles and saying "floaw-Ah." (that is very difficult to explain in type~ It was precious. You are quite the charmer.

Lots of new words this month, most notably, anytime you see letters of any type you say "ABC!!!" Really, you exclaim ABC!!! Books have become 'abc' as well, though when it is bedtime and you are getting dressed in your pajamas, you say "Abc abc abc abcabcabc" with the occasion yell for Daddy- who is the general reader of books. Last night was a banner night for book reading, you enjoyed 3 books. That is a lot of sitting for a toddler. We were terribly impressed.

What other fun things do you do? You bark like a dog, and mew like a cat, when we ask you what sounds a duck makes your produce a sound not unlike a clucking chicken. Half bark/half quack... Like "bOck bOck" My quacking may not be up to snuff. You now ask for the things you want, "Some" is probably your most used request. Occasionally we get "some, pees" and that gets you just about anything you want. There is the stealthy 'thank-you' that you manage to whip out around complete strangers at the grocery store. And when you wake up from your naps, or you are finished at the dinner table you say "Down."

You can be very helpful around the house sometimes, you will sweep with broom, and brush your own teeth... The tooth brush or "beesh" as you call it, must be carried around for at least 30 minutes after brushing. Maybe you are going to be a dentist?

One of the most interesting things you do to calm yourself in situations most uncomfortable (like the running of the vacuum or dishwasher). You hum or imitate the sound the machine is making. Perhaps you are communing with it on an aural level, I am unsure, but I think that might make you a genius.

Overall, this has been a great month- I love you bunches and bunches. You are my little peach. And I am a lucky.

Love,

Mamma
